Dopis do DOS-WK: MS a nová sezona
Tentokrát kromě obvyklých odpovědí a novinek i něco o MS, českých ambicích a prostějovské přítomnosti v Brně. Na závěr jsou dotazy na brzký začátek nové halové sezony a taky, jestli někdo z Enschede nedorazí do Brna, že bychom se mohli s nimi setkat nad sklenicí lahodného českého piva.
Anglické znění dopisu:
Dear Marcel,
Many of our members will visit world championship in Brno to see top international korfbal and to support Czech national team. Everyone here in the Czech Republic wants a medal, anything less then semifinals would be a failure but I think it will be very hard to get to the semifinals.
Although we have several internationals in our club – all females, no one made it to the final selection of Czech national coach. Nevertheless, we will have two official attendees of the championship. Martin Uherka will be there as a referee and I, a member of Czech Korfball Association EXCO, will be there as a part of WKC organizing committee.
On the account of anyone being able to threaten Dutch on their path to the gold, I don't think that another national team, even Belgium, is able to win the championship. From what I can see, the gap between Dutch korfbal and the others has been broadening during the last 5 to 10 years.
As a part of the championship, there is a project for local schools and national teams to partner up (for the period of championship). Most of the national teams will have a partner school in Brno but 4 countries will have their partners in Prostejov - Belgium, Russia, Poland .... and guess who ... Germany as well.
Because a part of this project is a visit of national team in partner school, it's more than probable that your DOS-WK players will come to Prostejov :-) Also the schools will come to some of the matches in groups and will cheer for their partner national teams.
Also I would like to offer DOS-WK members a proposal from our club that we can try to arrange an accommodation in Prostejov for them during the championship. Hotels in Brno will be full because of other events happening in the same time (some trade fair, Brno has a pretty big fair centre).
Prostejov is about 55km to the north from Brno and it takes about 35minutes to get there if you use highway. So this would be an alternative for those who want to come, especially for those with a car.
In other news, our first team managed to beat Czech champion Ceske Budejovice in already started new indoor season. We lost one match in the golden goal period and we won the second match. Together with two wins from the first round, we are currently placed 2nd in the Extraliga. But the season is long and we have to train hard to get to the play-off in the end.
Both our U19 and U15 teams lost all their matches in the new season but both teams are new and young and their performance will improve within time.
With your indoor season starting soon, what are your expectations? How many sport halls does DOS-WK use for trainings and matches?
Aside of the two German national team members, is anyone else from DOS-WK coming to Brno? We can meet for a friendly chat over a glass of a fine Czech beer.
Regards,
Jan
